Getting Started: Your Self-Watering Pot Guide

Getting started

We are so excited to help your plants thrive in their new home. These self-watering pots are designed to make plant care simple and stress-free.

Follow these steps to get set up:

1. Thread the Wick: Take the cotton rope and thread it through the hole at the bottom of the inner pot (if it's not already done). Make sure the rope sits inside the pot with a "tail" hanging out the bottom. This tail should be long enough to reach the bottom of the reservoir. 🧵

2. Add Your Plant: Fill the inner pot about 1/3 full with your medium (we recommend a mineral substrate like PON, LECA, or a very chunky soil). Insert your plant with clean roots. Fill the rest of the pot with your medium while shaking it gently to make sure there are no air gaps. 🪴

3. The First Drink: Water your plant slowly from the top. The extra water will drip into the reservoir to be used later. Important: Do not fill the water above the transparent part of the pot so the roots can still breathe! 🌬️

Maintenance

To keep your pot looking fresh and your plant happy, a little bit of cleaning goes a long way:

Routine Clean: Every 3 months, give the outer pot a quick wash to remove any residue or dust.
Algae Care: If your pot is in bright sunlight or you use plant nutrients, you might see some green algae. No worries! Just clean the pot once a month with warm water and a little bit of soap. 🧼

Once it's clean, the pot will go back to doing its magic! ✨
